Description
- The Svalin field lies about six kilometres south-west of the Grane Oil Field platform at a water depth of 125 metres.
- The Svalin development is tied back to the Grane Oil Field platform. Svalin M produces by a well drilled from the Grane platform, while Svalin C is a subsea development with a six-kilometre-long flowline to the Grane platform. The hydrocarbons utilise shared processing and export facilities
Contractors
- Aker Solutions:
- Two subsea trees, one four-slot integrated template structure with process distribution manifold, subsea and topside production control systems, wellhead systems and remote connection systems
- Six kilometre long control umbilical, connectors, engineering and project management
History
- 1992 - C Svalin discovered
- 2008 - Svalin M discovered
- 2011 - Aker Solutions awarded the engineering, procurement and construction of the subsea production system
- 2012 - Aker awarded umbilical contract
- 2012 - Statoil submitted their plan for development and operation (PDO) to the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy
- 2012 - The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (MPE) approved the Plan for Development and Operation (PDO)
- 2014 - Svalin C production begins
Geology
- There is oil and associated gas in Paleocene to Lower Eocene sandstones in the Heimdal and Balder Formations at a depth of approximately 1 750 metres. The sandstones are deposited as sub-marine fans.
