+++ Description
* The Valhall field, located some 30 km south of the Ekofisk Platform complex, was discovered in May 1975 and declared commercial two years later. The field was developed using four platforms. Three of these platforms were located at the Valhall field with the fourth 2/4G Riser platform located at the Ekofisk Centre. First oil was in October 1982.
* Since 2013, the Valhall field complex now has six separate manned platforms: quarters; drilling; production; wellheads; water injection; and the new combined process and hotel platform. In addition it has two unmanned flank platforms, each approximately six kilometres from the main facilities.
* The **Hod Oil and Gas Field** is also tied back to Valhall
* The renewed facilities have the capacity to handle 120,000 barrels of oil and 143 million cubic feet of gas per day
* The Valhall Flanks development included the addition of two normally unmanned platforms, one in the North and one in the South of the existing Valhall field. The production from each of these platforms is routed through two separate pipelines and processed at the Valhall complex. Each platform contains 16 well slots.

+++ Geology
* The Valhall field produces from chalk in the Tor and Hod Formations of Late Cretaceous age. The reservoir depth is approximately 2 400 metres. The chalk in the Tor Formation is fine-grained and soft, with considerable fracturing allowing oil and water to flow more easily than in the Hod formation.
