+++ Description
* The main Gullfaks field lies in block 34/10 in the northern part of the Norwegian North Sea. It has been developed with three large concrete production platforms.
* All three oil fields are tied back to the Gullfaks A platform, where produced gas is reinjected.
* The Gullfaks Satellite field development consists of the Gullfaks South, Rimfaks and Gullveig fields
* The Gullfaks Rimfaks valley development will consist of a standard subsea template with two simple gas production wells, and possibilities of connecting two more wells. The well stream will be connected to the existing pipeline to the Gullfaks A platform

* 1988 - The Gullfaks B platform began production
* 1989 - The Gullfaks C platform began production
* 1994 - Gullfaks C began receiving and processing oil from the [[[Tordis Oil Field]]]
* 1994 - The field set a production record of 605,965 barrels for a single day on 7 October
* 2008 - Aker Solutions wins contract for replacement of cement units on Gullfaks platforms
* 2010 - Aibel awarded a contract for modifications on the Gullfaks C platform
* 2012 - FMC Technologies Awarded $200 Million Subsea Equipment Contract for Statoil's Gullfaks South Field Development
* 2012 - Technip was awarded by Statoil a contract for the fabrication, installation and tie-ins of flowlines for Gullfaks South field development
* 2013 - OMV acquired 19% from Statoil
* 2014 - Gullfaks Rimfaks valley development approved
* 2015 - Subsea compressor installed on Gullfaks C

+++ Geology
* The Gullfaks reservoirs consist of Middle Jurassic sandstones of the Brent Group, and Lower Jurassic and Upper Triassic sandstones of the Cook, Statfjord and Lunde Formations. The reservoirs lie 1 700 – 2 000 metres below sea level. The Gullfaks reservoirs are located in rotated fault blocks in the west and a structural horst in the east, with a highly faulted area in-between.
* The drive mechanisms are water injection, gas injection and water/alternating gas injection (WAG). The drive mechanisms vary between drainage areas in the field, with water injection as the main strategy.
