* NGTL gathers natural gas for use within the province of Alberta. It is also known as the [[[Alberta System Gas Pipeline]]]
* It delivers the gas to provincial boundary points for connection with the Company's [[[Transcanada Canadian Mainline Gas Pipeline]]] and [[[Foothills System Gas Pipeline]]] and with the natural gas pipelines of other companies
* It is one of the largest systems in North America and gathers 66 per cent of the natural gas produced in Western Canada.

* The pipeline will transport natural gas sourced through the NGTL System to the inlet of CVX/APA's proposed [[[Pacific Trail Gas Pipelines]]] (PTP) that will terminate at the [[[Kitimat LNG Terminal]]]
